In 2010, the Department of Geology at the University of Tromsø in Norway purchased an Avaatech XRF core scanner in a 20-foot container and a Bruker S8 Tiger XRF spectrometer to measure the element composition of a variety of geological samples.
These investments were only possible thanks to the financial support from Det norske oljeselskap ASA! The XRF scanner was subsequently upgraded repeatedly with financial support from Det norske oljeselskap ASA. Furthermore, it has been transported within Norway and it has been used during a marine-geological expedition in the central Arctic Ocean.
On this homepage, you find technical information about the instruments and what purposes they have been (and are) used for. If you are interested in using these instruments feel free to contact the project personnel.
